Frisbee dog having fun

Frisbee dog having fun and also getting lots of exercise. We usually refer to all flying disk as Frisbees, though it is the brand name of only one such product.

You should start your puppy off doing rollers first. After he learns what's expected, he will have a blast chasing after and tackling the disk. You may be surprised by some of the moves your puppy can make.

You can then start to make short throws with your pup.

Before you start this, make sure you have practiced throwing. If not, find someone else who knows how to throw and learn from them.

You should practice a lot without your dog. If you can't throw it, your dog is more likely to get hurt.

Never let anyone else throw for your dog unless you are assured of their proficiency.

Most frisbee dog injuries are caused by poor throwers and unpracticed dogs.

Never push your dog beyond its limits, you're just asking for trouble.

Young dogs should NOT be encouraged to jump high into the air after the disc. They should be running after it and catching it from behind.

A lot of frisbee work is done with your dog sitting by your feet.

Only practice for 5 minutes at a time, with breaks in between.

If you live near a lake or body of water, you can go beyond 5 minutes by letting your dog chase and swim after it.

Always have lots of fresh water for your frisbee dog, especially if you are at the beach. You will also want to bring some shade.

Frisbee is a sport and like any physical activity, there is a risk of sustaining injuries.
